Coordinated In Home Supports Project (CIHS)
The project offers the highest level of in-home support for school-aged children on the autism spectrum living at home with significant, problem behaviors. It provides a high quality, intensive level of community habilitation that also effectively serves as respite for the parent/caregiver through six agencies: Crystal Run Village, Greystone Programs, Inspire, Mental Health Association, Occupations, and Orange AHRC. The Orange County Department of Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities Division provides oversight of the project, centralized training for mentors employed by the six agencies and parents, plus services provided through the Division’s Child and Family Clinical Resource Team. Supervisors from the six agencies work collaboratively to provide services in the same way and children benefit from a uniform assessment and plan development process supported by the project’s resource team. Family participation in training and implementation of plans is required. This is not a life long service. A utilization review process helps to determine justification for continued service. When continuation can no longer be justified, a plan to step down is developed.
Please refer to the training requirements for CIHS mentors on the training requirements document below and note that CIHS now falls under the Orange County Community Supports Initiative (OCCSI)
