This is an independent guide, not a government office. We are not Orange County Government, the Orange County Department of Mental Health, or NYS OPWDD, and we cannot determine eligibility or enrol anyone in a program. For official help call the county Developmental Disabilities Services Division on 845‑291‑2600 or see orangecountyny.gov.

About

Who runs this site, and why it exists

What this address used to be

For roughly a decade, orangecountynyddconnection.com was the website of the Developmental Disabilities Division of the Orange County Department of Mental Health. It carried service guides, training calendars, provider information and the county's 911 registration and Project Lifesaver material.

The site stopped being updated around 2019. At some point after that it was left unmaintained, was defaced with spam, and the registration eventually lapsed. Anyone following an old link landed on nothing.

What it is now

This is an independently run guide at the same address, rebuilt in 2026. It is not the county office, not OPWDD, and not any agency. It has no role in eligibility, enrolment, funding or service delivery, and it holds no case information.

It exists for one practical reason. Schools, law firms, universities, county documents and news archives still link here. Those links should lead somewhere accurate. Where the county or the state is the correct answer, this site says so plainly and links straight to them rather than standing between you and the office you need.

What we deliberately do not republish

The archived version of this site contained enrolment forms for the 911 and Project Lifesaver registries, eligibility intake paperwork, and service application forms carrying the county's contact details. None of that is reproduced here. Filing an out-of-date safety form with the wrong office gives a family the impression of protection they do not have, and that is a worse outcome than a missing page.

How the information is checked

Facts on this site are taken from the county's and the state's own current published pages, and each page carries the date it was last reviewed. Phone numbers, programme names and eligibility rules change. Where something here disagrees with the county or OPWDD, they are right and we are out of date, and we would like to be told: send a correction.

Accessibility

The audience for this site includes people with disabilities, so the typeface, colour contrast, keyboard navigation and structure were chosen for readability rather than decoration. If any part of it is hard to use, that is a fault worth reporting. See accessibility.
